The Power of Food
Supporting Your Health and Well-being
A Healthier You
“Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
Good nutrition is fundamental for good health. We have known for centuries that Vitamin C deficiency can lead to Scurvy, Vitamin D deficiency can lead to Rickets and Iodine deficiency can lead to Thyroid disease. Lack of other vitamins, minerals and nutrients can lead to many health issues such as fatigue, low mood, skin conditions and more. Our body relies on the food we eat to obtain vital nutrients that are essential for the optimal functioning of our body systems, for growth and repair, for regulating mood and maintaining well-being. In addition good nutrition and effective lifestyle interventions can help with maintaining the health of our brain.
Our body is an amazing creation, if we give it the resources it needs it will be our strength.
We are all unique, our lifestyles are very different, we have different genetics, we are all individuals with different dietary and lifestyle requirements. Chronic stress is so prevalent in today's society and we are all suffering from the consequences- digestive issues, skin problems, hormonal issues, low mood, anxiety, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, poor immunity and much more are all driven by chronic stress. Our bodies are complex, our brain, heart, gastrointestinal tract, liver, kidneys etc do not exist in isolation but are connected and so it is important to look at ourselves holistically. We are a product of our genetics, environment, diet and lifestyle.
Any nutrition and lifestyle plan, if it is to be successful long term has to address nutrition, stress management and lifestyle factors. It has to be personalised for you. That philosophy is at the heart of My Pure Nutrition.
One of the areas that I have a special interest in is supporting brain health.
Our modern lifestyle can take a huge toll on the brain and there is a large increase in brain related conditions. Many mental health conditions such as low mood, anxiety, depression to name a few can be supported by nutritional therapy together with psychotherapy . Cognitive decline as we age has also become an important health concern. Dementia such as Alzheimer's is the most common age related disease of cognitive decline. There are steps we can take to minimise our risks and support ourselves to maintain healthy brain function. Poor nutrition and lifestyle play an important part in poor brain health. The brain needs certain nutrients in order to maintain structure and function. Lifestyle factors such as chronic stress can lead to a reduction in mass in certain areas of the brain. Addressing these factors is an important step in supporting not only brain health but our general health as well.
Workshops and Talks
In addition to consultations I also provide workshops and talks to groups and organisations on all aspects of well-being taking a holistic approach and encompassing nutrition and lifestyle factors.
Having worked in healthcare this is an area where I can provide valuable advice and strategies on tackling stress during the working day but also on improving resilience and long term well-being.
There are many conditions that Nutritional Therapy and Stress Management can help to support- some of which are listed below....
About My Pure Nutrition
Dr. Hina Patel BDS(Hons), PGDip CDP, Dip CNM, mANP, rGNC.
Good nutrition has never been more crucial than at this present time. We have made great advances in eradicating deadly infections and diseases but in their place, we have created other chronic illnesses such as diabetes, asthma, eczema, depression and other mental health conditions, obesity, the list is endless! Our bodies are constantly being bombarded with potential toxins in the form of sugar, preservatives, artificial additives, processed foods, environmental toxins- another endless list...
Chronic stress is another huge factor that is affecting our health and well-being. The stress response that evolved for 'fight or flight' situations is constantly being activated but the 'fight or flight' response is no longer appropriate most of the time leading to many health problems.
Supporting brain health is something I am interested in. Diet and lifestyle interventions are important in supporting the long term health of our brain.
I am passionate about supporting good health and well-being holistically through nutrition, stress management and lifestyle interventions.
I would love to share what I have learned through studying nutrition with you and support you on your journey to good health.
I provide consultations from my therapy rooms in Harley Street London or online.
A bit about me .....
After my A levels, I was either going to study Dentistry or Food Science and Nutrition. I ended up studying Dentistry and have had a long (25+years) and rewarding career in Special Care Dentistry where I have had the privilege to provide oral care for some of the most vulnerable people in our community. However, the interest in Food Science and Nutrition stayed with me and I decided to eventually pursue that direction as well. I gained my Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from The College of Naturopathic Medicine in London. I obtained my Primary Certificate in Stress Management from the Centre for Coaching in London. I have learnt so much and I hope to be able to share this with you and support you on your journey to good health and well-being.
A complimentary 15-minute consultation over the phone to discuss your requirements.
Before we book a consultation appointment it is important to discuss what you would like to achieve to ensure that our services are appropriate for you.
Once a consultation is booked you will be emailed a questionnaire and food diary to fill out and email back in advance (at least 48 hours) of your appointment.
Once this is received I will have a preliminary picture of your health, be able to analyse your food diary and research any points raised on the forms prior to your appointment.
The consultation lasts approximately 60-75 minutes after which you will be given an initial nutrition plan and appropriate handouts.
Once I have researched further into your requirements after our consultation I will email you with any additions that are needed. The plan created is personalised for you and takes into account your lifestyle and what will work for you.
Follow up appointment
The follow-up appointment is 45 minutes and scheduled for about 4-6 weeks after the initial consultation. At this appointment we discuss your progress, address any limitations/difficulties you may have had and adjust your plan as needed.
These are usually the most preferred options
~ Initial Consultation and two follow up appointments
~ Initial consultation and three follow up appointments
~ 4 Day Food Diary review with recommendations
~ Group Talks, Stress management training and corporate services
